Chiang C. C., . and Yu B., . (2004) Development of a dynamic in vitro digestion system of the pig stomach. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
The aim of this study is to develop a dynamic system for simulating the gastric digestion of the pig. The system includes not only chemical environmental factors but also physical dynamic changes such as the release of enzymes removal of products and gastric emptying. For setting the parameters of this system we collected physical data from pigs with stomach cannulation and conducted the digestion trial to ensure the simulatability of the system. The results showed that the average pH values of gastric digesta rose significantly from 2.47 to 4.97 after feed consumption and then fall in 140 minutes postprandial. The model for decreasing pH values can be described as pHt 5.182e-0.0014t where t represents the postprandial time in minutes. The cumulative distribution function of the liquid digesta was Vt 64.509e0.0109t. The average pepsin activity in the liquid digesta was 317 unit/mL. There is significant gastric emptying in 220 minutes after feed consumption. The dynamic system of the gastric digestion was set according to the above data and by arranging the established reactor and the process control software. The time course for crude protein digestibility of the feed in the dynamic system would be uptrend as the animal data which was Dt 0.1355t 1.8461.
