Myers R.J.K., . (1994) Management of nitrogen in cropping systems in Indonesia - a review of studies using 15N. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
This paper reviews a large number of experiments using 15N-labelled fertilizer that were designed to increase efficiency in utilisation of nitrogenous fertilizers. With lowland rice urea is best applied as supergranules or briquettes as broadcast application leads to losses of N.However prilled urea applied as a band at transplanting is utilised efficiently. With upland crops N applied to rainy season crops is used inefficiently while that applied to crop receiving less rainfall is used efficiently.Legume residues are an effective source of N for crops depending on the quantity of N contained in the residues its concentration and the rainfall received.
