Abstract
This paper gives brief accounts of the technical and isntitutional innovations in planning and implementing a multiple-use sustainable forest management in the Dipterocarp forest in Sabah basing the experiences from the model area Deramakot Forest Reserve. From these experiences this paper touches on the problem learnt in trying to implement sustainable forest management mainly the issue of institutional developments adoption of reduce impact logging privatisation policy incentives in implementing sustainable forest management inferences in certification marketing certified timber and forest enterprise management.
