Hew C.S., . (2005) CO2 enrichment and quality improvement of orchid flowers. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
Improving the yield and quality of orchid flowers is a major and ongoing task of orchid growers as well as orchid biologists. Until recently we have not had much success in controlling flowering of orchid flowers in commercial nurseries. The successful control of flowering in Phalaenopsis flowers through low temperature treatment is therefore a major advancement in large-scale commercial orchid flower production. However much remains to be done to further improve the quality of the flowers either through genetic and or physiological manipulation. This paper reviews the effect of CO2 enrichment on growth and quality improvement of tropical orchid flowers.
