Abstract

The effect of differences in processing procedures on the nutritive values of whole crop rice silage and the intake of Japanese Black fattening cattle was investigated. Whole crop rice silages were processed with chopping without chopping or sun dried without chopping before the baling. In the sun dried without chopped silage the moisture content was significantly p less than 0.05 lower than the high digestible fibre fraction was significantly p less than 0.05 higher than those of other silages. The drying process before baling significantly p less than 0.05 increased the dry matter intake of the Japanese Black fattening cattle.
