This paper evaluates the growth performances of four 4 indigenous high quality timber species namely Dipterocarpus baudii keruing bulu Shorea macroptera meranti melantai S. leprosula meranti tembaga and S. curtisii meranti seraya which were planted in the gaps after logging at Bukit Kinta Forest Reserve Perak Darul Ridzuan. The survival rates showed that D. baudii 83 more than S. macrotera 66 more than S. leprosula 56 more than S. curtisii 17.5. In terms of height and diameter growths S. leprosula gave the best result at 10.7 m and 94.5 mm respectively compared to the other species studied. Furthermore the low survival rate of S. curtisii showed that selection of planting site is very important for the species.
