Tan S.L., . and Chen C.P, . (1999) A non-conventional biofertilizer: case study for sweetpotato. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
Two biofertilizers formulated from synthesized free amino acids and low molecular weight oligopeptides were tested on 13 sweetpotato clones of varying morphology. The biofertilizers were applied as a 0.1 dip for vine cuttings prior to planting and three times as a foliar spray at 1.0 L/ha during the crop cycle. The treatments boosted total fresh root yield by a mean of 25. Marketable roots of more than 150 g each showed increases in weight and number by 37 and 38 respectively while harvest index improved by 23. Estimates show that the yield increase brought more income than it cost to use the bifertilizers.
