Abstract
The wood-based industries in Malaysia had started from a simple sawn timber to plywood followed by particleboard and medium density fibreboard. From the plywood era formaldehyde-based resin dominated the scene. Amino resins constitute majority of choice favoured through its low cost fast/flexible cure requirement and light colour. Evolution of specially made resins was influenced by process needs resulting from development of new machineries. Productivity lower emission requirements and improved moisture resistance also become a driving factor.
