Abstract

A method for the screening of transgenic pineapple plants is described. DNA from the leaves was transferred onto FTA card. A disc of 2 mm diameter was punched from the FTA card and put into a PCR tube. The FTA card was washed twice with FTA purification buffer and twice with TE buffe dried and a PCR mix added. The primers used screened for part of the promoter of the antisense gene and the npt II genes. This method is rapid and does not make use of chemicals to extract DNA. Moreover the DNA in the FTA card be easily stored at room temperature.
