Abstract
Plants of Oxalis corniculata L. grown singly free from inter-clonal interference exhibited symmetrical growth as illustrated by the non-significant departure from zero of the angular concentrations (r values) of the modules around the mother plant. There was an apparent uniformity in the circular dispersion of modules around the mother plant with non-significant values of rayleigh's z. There was a tendency towards asymmetry of stolon growth with a highly skewed distribution of modules concentrated in a particular direction as total plant size increased and this may reflect small differences in stolon growth rates which become accentuated with time. The responses of stolons and their associated modules appeared to be very much dependent on the immediate environment in which they were subjected
