Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the effect of sex season of birth and percentage of Bos taurus inheritance on body weight of crossbred dairy cattle between 6 and 24 months of age. The cattle were raised at Institut Haiwan Kluang Johor. Sex had a significant effect (p0.01) on body weight at 12 18 and 24 months of age but not at 6 months. Season of birth had minimal effect on body weight: only weight at 12 months was significantly affected (p0.05). Percentage of B. taurus inheritance did not affect (p0.05) body weight at 6 months of age but had a significant influence (p0.01) as the animals got older. Growth in terms of body weight was superior in the 62.5 crossbreds than the 25 and 50 animals
