Abstract
These are investigations involved determining i) the effects of 5 percent and 10 percent aqueous extracts of Azadirachta indica leaves and margisa oil (100 percent from the seeds) on the terrestrial snail pest Bradybaena similaris when given orally and through contact and ii) the effects of the aqueous leaf extract on the aquatic snail Indoplanorbis exustus. The results as measured either through cessation of food intake or movements or excessive mucus secretions or mortality rate confirmed an earlier finding utilizing a commercial preparations that the terresterial snail was not affected by the extracts. However an LC50 of 448.0 mg/L was obtained for the aquatic snail after 24 hrs exposure to varying concentrations of the aqueous leaf extract (250.0 mg/L 500.0 mg/L 750.0 mg/L and 1000 mg/L)
