Abstract

Following reports of serious Ganoderma incidences in some private estates situated inland a check on some FELDA schemes revealed that the disease has occurred in six schemes. Considerating the variable number of incidences and the distribution of the disease it is suspected that more incidences of Ganoderma could be found in the other schemes as well. A census carried out in three FELDA schemes that is Jengka 1 Jengka 13 and Ulu Jempol reveals the presence of the disease there. The number of diseased points ranged from one to four. In Ulu Jempol some roots of a replant were found to be infected after having penetrated a diseased stump. Considering the large amount of debris left in the field at replanting the probability of locating and destroying diseased foci will be slim. Thus spread of the disease is inevitable.
