Abstract
Rat population varies in different places and at different times. In a recent survey the Wood Rat Rattus tiomanicus came out as the most important species even in areas where the Ricefield Rat Rattus argentiventer used to be dominant. Except in Nenering where it occurs as the dominant species R. argentiventer occurs in relatively low numbers with R. tiomanicus in Serting Palong Tembangau Selancar Chemplak and Maokil. The House Rat Rattus rattus diardii emerged as the dominant species in Ulu Tebrau Bukit Goh Air Tawar and the surrounding areas since 1991. Further development on this species is being monitored.
