Abstract
Variation in trichome morphology and histology has been studied in six species of Hibiscus and one species of Abelmoschus (A. esculentus) from Peninsular Malaysia. There are six types of nonglandular and one of glandular trichomes. Based on the structure and variation their distribution within the genus is discussed. This character can be used to identify certain Hisbiscus species such as H. mutabilis and H. floccosus and is useful taxonomically
