Abstract
Studies on FELDA mills with low OER showed that the low percentage of ripe crop was a major contributing factor towards declining OER. Another factor was that bunches received have significantly less fruit to bunch suggesting poor loose fruit collection as well as loose fruit spoilage at the FFB ramp. Six factors i.e. management material manpower machineries measurement and methods have been identified by the industry to affect OER. Of these manpower shortage failure to understand post-weevil bunch material with higher KER and management's inability to control the recovery in the field of detached fruits with higher OER are the main contributing factors to the current lowering OER
