Abstract
This paper outlines the rationale potential and usefulness of a tree plantation in relation to its market value as an alternative timber source. The role of the pulp timber in a forest plantation is analysed and species identified. The future role of pulptimber in supporting a growing pulp and paper industries in Malaysia is also mentioned. This paper shows the economic viability of planting trees as a crop. Several IRR obtained on fast growing plantation species are appended for reference.
