Abstract

In 1997 more than 500 000 tonnes of fertilizer were purchased by FELDA for its oil palm plantations. Out of this amount 11 percent were found to be off-specification based on SIRIM standard. The types of fertilizers that did not meet specification were mixtures (55.0 percent) MOP (20.5 percent kieserite (13.8 percent) phosphate rock (6.7 percent) compounds (3.9 percent) and ammonium sulphate (2.8 percent). Urea borax and ammonium nitrate were found to be within specification. This paper summarises the quality of the 1997 fertilizers as analysed by FASSB's laboratory.
