Abstract
This paper discusses briefly the understanding of concepts for continuing education with particular emphasis on the training needs of the plantation industry. With the advancement of technology and the availability of information technology employees must seek the opportunity to update themselves with knowledge. Organisations must be more open liberal and adjust their training needs taking advantage on the globalisation and democratisation of education and the academic outreach programmes of the various educational institutions.
