Abstract
Mechanise or die is an expression well acknowledged by all planters was consequent to the ever worsening labour shortage in the plantation sector for the past two decades or so. With this scenario improvement in weeding techniques have been given continuous attential by all concerned. Weeding being one of the major field upkeep operations on a plantation upon which the general standard of other operations depends has always been the focal point on the - planter's day. Unsatisfactory weeding standards will invariably become pivotal to the overall field upkeep and maintenance as well as crop recovery operation. As the pressure is mounting to improve land to labour ratio; mechanisation in weed management becomes increasingly important.
