Abstract
An up-to-date checklist of the hawkmoths (Sphingidae) of Kinabalu Park (Sabah Borneo) is presented based on our surveys carried out by the authors between 1993 and 1999 specimens available in collections and published literature records. For each species all individual recording locations within the park as well as the total number of specimens are listed. In 16 cases the altitudinal range is given. In this study 12 additional species are recorded for Kinabalu Park bringing the known total count for the area to 66 species. Records of three hawkmoth species new for Borneo are included. At present this results in a representation of 66 per cent of the 100 known Bornean sphingid species documented for the area of Kinabalu Park
