Abstract

DxP (La Me) one of the oil palm planting materials produced by Felda Agricultural Services Sdn. Bhd (FASSB) during the mid-seventies and early eighties was known for their shorter trunk smaller canopy and consistency in FFB production. It was slowly phased out from commercial seed production due to customers' growing rejection because of its generally long-spiked bunches. However current observation shows that it is possible to identify short-spiked materials from FASSB's large population of La Me materials which can be used to produce DxP (La Me) with short-spiked bunches.
