Abstract

The charge properties of 8 soil series were studied. The result showed that gibbsite was related to the pH of these soils. Negative charges exceeded positive charges at the pH range of 3 - 6 thus the point of zero net charge (PZNC) of these soils were not obtained. The sum of Al and bases was a better estimate of effecture cation exchange capacity (ECEC) than of the permanent charge (PC) of the soils. These soils were either in the recent or intermediate stage of weathering shown by the low pH and high weathering index
