Abstract

Control of Asystasia intrusa (B1) with five post-emergence weedicides in early transplanted coffee (Coffea liberica Bull ex Hiern) was carried out at MARDI Research Station Kluang Johore. Treatments which included 2 4-D amine (0.5 kg a.i./ha) triclopyr butoxyethyl-ester (0.3 kg a.i./ha) picloram 2 4-D amine (0.02 0.08 kg a.i./ha) and fluazifop-butyl 2 4-D amine (0.1 0.1 kg a.i./ha) significantly (P 0.05) reduced this noxious weed population without causing any injury to the crop. These plots re-examined 35 days after spraying were found to be re-infested with weeds. The plot treated with bromacil diuron (0.6 0.6 kg a.i./ha) was still weed-free. This weedicide mixture caused leaf-necrosis followed by wilting and death of young coffee seedlings
