Abstract
The study area was considered as not productive. The average surface content of chlophyll a was 0.08 mg/m3 whereas for vertical distribution the average value was 0.208 mg/m3. These values were almost the same as those prevalent in most tropical offshore waters. The low primary productivity was attributed to low nutrient level in the water
