Abstract

This paper presented nautical data obtained during 2400 nautical square miles (8147 sq. km.) in Malaysian Exclusive Economic Zones off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The vessel used was Kagoshima-Maru a research vessel of Kagoshima University Japan. Ship's position was determined whenever the vessel stopped shifted and drifted. Their positions were obtained with an accuracy of 0.2 to 0.3 nautical miles. The nearest station to the shore was 39(72 km) nautical miles offshore and the farthest station was 83 (153 km) nautical miles offshore. Water depth was determined with fish finders and ranged between 56 to 77 meters in the area. Air temperature varied from 26.3 degrees C to 30.9 degrees C. The dominant wind direction was ESE'ly and the maximum wind velocity was 7 m/s
