Reports of new sheath diseases of rice Oryza sativa in Peninsular Malaysia

Citation

Chin K.M., . Reports of new sheath diseases of rice Oryza sativa in Peninsular Malaysia. pp. 79-83.

Abstract

Six diseases of leaf sheaths and stems of the rice plant had increased in prominence recently. Foot rot caused by Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis had not previously been recorded. Sheath blotch caused by Pyrenochaeta oryzae had not been reported before on leaf sheaths. Cercospora oryzae usually a leaf pathogen caused different symptoms on sheaths and Rhizoctonia oryzae-sativae (probably reported erroneously before) and Magnaporthe salviniii were widespread. The conidial states of M. salvinii: Helminthosporium sigmoideum and H. sigmoideum var. irregulare were described
