Abstract
The most common plant parasitic nematodes infesting vegetables were the spiral nematode Helicotylenchus dihystera the reniform nematode Rotylenchulus reniformis and the root knot nematodes Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica. Growth of brinjal plants was not affected significantly (P 0.05) when inoculated with H. dihystera at the levels of 57 114 and 171 nematodes per 100 ml soil The growth of the same plant species was reduced significantly (P 0.05) when inoculated with M. javanica at the levels of 12 25 and 37 larva per 100 ml soil
