Alias Ismail, . Suitability evaluation in rice Oryza variety IR42 in MUDA irrigation area Peninsular Malaysia. pp. 12-19.
Abstract
The suitability of rice variety IR42 introduced from IRRI for planting in the MUDA rice double-cropping area was evaluated. It had good yielding potential plant type and resistance to various major diseases and pests. However it also had long maturation period low percentage of headrice recovery and poor eating quality. Thus it was not suitable for large scale planting and recommended only to be planted where PMV (penyakit merah virus) and BPH (brown planthopper) control was necessary. The variety had good potential for improvement in our breeding programme
