Abstract

Distribution of red coconut scale Furcaspis oceanica Landinger and its natural enemies was examined in the Western Caroline Islands the Northern Mariana Islands Guam and Pohnpei. It was found that F. oceanica was distributed in Yap Ulithi Atoll Saipan Guam and Pohnpei but three island in the Northern Marianas Rota Tinian and Aguijan were free from the scale. The effective natural enemy of red coconut scale Adelencyrthus oceanicus (Doutt) was found in Yap Ulithi Atoll and Saipan. In Yap and Ulithi two hyperparasites Ablerus palauensis Doutt and Marietta carnesi (Howard) were identified. Two additional natural enemies Rozanoviella sp. and one unidentified species were found in Saipan. Rozanoviella sp. and three aphelinids were found to be associated with red coconut scale on Guam. A high percentage of red coconut scale was parasitized at Ulithi Atoll in the Caroline Islands.
