Abstract
Fifteen varieties of chilli including lowland highland and exotic collections were evaluated in Cameron Highlands to determine genetic diversity and mean performance of several characters. Though significant differences were found among the varieties for all traits studied greater genetic diversity was detected in yield and its components especially mean fruit weight. An exotic F 1 variety called Passion was found to be distinctly high yielding. Other relatively high yielding varieties include both lowland and highland collections. The general trend of yield distribution is quite similar for all varieties where more than 90 percent of the total yield could be obtained from a period of about 10 weeks harvest.
