Abstract
Rhinoceros beetles Oryctes rhinoceros can become a serious threat to oil palms and these pests must be controlled properly. The most effective control measure is to destroy the breeding places of these beetles. Oil palm trunks in replants should not be stacked but should be cut up and spread out. As a temporary measure insecticides such as Furadan or Curaterr can be used to control the beetles in young oil palms.
