Abstract

The study in Kampung Majau Batu Kikir Negeri Sembilan Peninsular Malaysia showed that fattening of cattle using agricultural by-products in feedlot is economically viable and can increase the farmers' income. The project profitability can be increased through more efficient management and better breeds of feeder cattle. The highest component of fixed costs is the building of sheds and waste pond whereas the major operational cost is the cost of animal accounting for about 70 percent of the total operational costs. Availability of suitable feeder cattle and the high cost of feeders are the major problems in the implementation of the project.
