Abstract
A preliminary analysis was made on the performance of 21 provenances of A. mangium at four different locations on survival growth and stemform. Survival was generally good and the average percentage survival ranged from 83 percent - 95 percent. These was a significant difference in the mean height between provenances at all sites except one and the MAI ranges from 4.7 m-5.4 m. There was also a significant difference in the mean diameter growth between provenances for two sites and the MAI ranged from 4.3 cm-5.3 cm. There was a great variability in stemform between sites. The average acceptable trees ranged from 17 percent-92 percent. Various possibilities that might have contributed to this great difference were given. In general the provenances from Claudie River Oriomo River Jullaten and West of Morehead showed better performance.
