Abstract

The assasin bug Sycanus dichotomus is a predatory insect living on other insects including nettle caterpillars bagworms and grasshoppers. This insect is often found in young oil palm and cocoa fields. A study was done to understand the biology and also to examine the possibilities of this useful insect for biological control. Results of the study including pictures of the insect at various stages during the life-cycle are presented for awareness regarding its usefulness.
