Abstract
Salak (Salacca edulis Reinw.) is a potential traditional fruit which can be cultivated on a large scale. This crop can grow well and produce fruits under the canopy of other trees and is suitable for integration with other fruit crops. Its morphological characteristics environmental and agronomic requirements are described. Salak can be vegetatively propagated by suckers or conventionally by seeds. Juvenile period is relatively short and pest and disease problems are not serious.
