Abstract

Viral diseases are among the main problems in chilli cultivation. Aphids are vectors transmitting cucumber mosaic virus and chilli veinal mottle virus while thrips transmit tomato spotted wilt virus. Only tobacco mosaic virus is transmitted mechanically and through seeds. The use of padi straw mulching planting maize plant as barrier crop and regular insecticide spraying are proposed as effective strategies for the management of viral diseases on chilli.
