Abstract

Cassava clone CM 982-7 named Perintis was officially released for planting on drained peat soil. Recently evaluation on the performance of this clone in sevel locations showed that Perintis is adapted to mineral soils as well and to all three agro-climatic zones tested. The fresh root yield of Perintis on mineral soils is 37.1-54.4 t/ha compared with 15.0-39.0 t/ha from Black Twig and 9.6-37.0 t/ha from Batang Merah. On peat Perintis yields 31.1-58.6 t/ha of fresh roots compared with 25.8-47.8 t/ha from Black Twig and 17.3-32.5 t/ha from Batang Merah. The starch content of the roots from Perintis is higher (22.4 percent) on mineral soils than on peat (19.7 percent).
