Abstract
Mango growing can be one alternative for idle padi fields. Systematic mango growing on bunds 3-4 m (width) and 1-1.5 m (height) has been carried out by a few farmers on idle padi fields in Seberang Perai. Observation on growth and yield for 6 consecutive years in MARDI Seberang Perai showed that mango trees grown on bunds perform just as well as those grown on normal land.
