Abstract

Among the highlands flowers chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium) is one of the most highly valued crops. The local varieties are susceptible to white rust disease caused by the fungus Puccinia horiana P. Henn. To date MARDI has identified three varieties namely Yellow Standard White Standard and Red Japanese Standard for 'standard' cutflower and four varieties namely Red Marguerite Purple Tall Decorative Cherry Marguerite and Westland Yellow Fuji for 'pompons' cutflowers which are capable of yielding 80 750-83 330 dozens of flowers per hectare.
