Abdul Ghani Mohamed, . Root pruning and its advantages in rambutan cultivation. pp. 33-37. ISSN 0127-7944
Abstract
The problems of severe root kinking and circling normally occurred when planting stocks were left too long in the nursery. In rambutan planting these problems could be overcome by root pruning or wrenching. Pruning had improved the root systems of the wrenched seedlings and encouraged the development of compact fibrous roots. Improvement in root system is believed to have contributed to the better growth and an 8 percent increase in field survival rate.
