Abstract

Mono- and bis-hydroperoxides have been isolated from the reaction between singlet oxygen and 2 6-dimethyl-2 6-octadiene and their Hydrogen-1 NMR spectral parameters are given. This information is used to examine both new and previously published Hydrogen-1 and Carbob-13 NMR data for the products of the reactions between singlet oxygen and both natural rubber and Gutta Percha. The relevance of these results to chain mobility in polyisoprenes is discussed
