Abstract
The dimensional stability and decay resistance of oil palm wood blocks after treatment with various polymers were studied. Treatments were carried out by diffusion and heat catalyst technique. Antishrink efficiency and improvement in decay resistance of the samples range from 46-100 percent and 0-65 percent respectively compared to the untreated samples. Polyethylene glycol was able to impart the highest dimensional stability. The highest decay resistance against white rot and brown rot was obtained from treatments with 2 4-toluene diisocyanate and poly (styrene-acrylonitrile) respectively.
