Abstract
During only 11 nights of trapping using harp traps standard mist nets and canopy mist nets 36 species of bats were captured and a further two species identified in flight in a small area of forest in Temengor Forest Reserve Hulu Perak Malaysia. Several were species not recorded or poorly known from elsewhere in Peninsular Malaysia. This indicates a very high diversity of bats in this area and potentially substantial benefits to conserving some of this area. However few suitable data are available to determine how this diversity of bats compares with that at other sites in Malaysia
