Abstract

Ichthyofaunal composition of Tasik Temengor and its tributaries south of Banding was studied. Twenty-three species were caught during the study including four specimens of ikan kelah Tor tambra. The queen danio Danio regina considered to be one of the most beautiful fish in Malaysia was present in abundance. The species has a great potential to become popular as an ornamental fish. The most common species was ikan sebarau Hampala macrolepidota which was found in all the sampling sites. Although our early surveys suggest that Tasik Temengor has a relatively low diversity of fish life the area can support commercial fisheries
