Abstract

Electrical transport and magnetic properties of polycrystalline La0.67 Sr0.33 MnO3 (LSMO) film grown on Corning (7059) glass via Pulsed Laser Deposition technique for thickness between 1.7 micron m to 3.1 micron m had been studied. Structural analysis using X-ray diffraction method shows that amorphous phases had been obtained for the as-deposited film and it will be transformed to polycrystalline film when heat treatment in oxygen environment is introduced. The magnetic susceptibility indicated that no sign of magnetic phase transition had been observed below 300K.The metal-insulator transition (Tp) is much lower (170K to 190K) and the resistance of the film is much higher as compared to bulk compound. Low field magnetoresistance had been observed for all the films however the variation of their values with thickness is small. Overall it shows that the resistance and the Tp are strongly thickness dependent the magnetic properties and magnetoresistance effect is only moderately changed.
