Abstract

A seasonal variation in adventitious root formation in stem cuttings of Dalbergia sericea was recorded which was spread over a major part of one year. Rooting failed to take place in the month of the onset of senescence even in the presence of auxins. In contrast root formation was observed in warmer months which corresponded to full leaf and pod development and in which exogenous application of auxins increased rooting as well as callus formation significantly over control sets. Best rooting took place in the leafless stage planted cuttings.
