Abstract

29 brands of pencils and 5 sets of coloured pencils were analyzed for lead and chromium content. Tests showed that high levels of lead ( 1000 ppm) and chromium ( 100 ppm) could be extracted using dilute hydrochloric acid (O.IM) at body temperature for two brands of pencils from Japan.
