Abstract

Effect of the treatment of titanate coupling agent Neopentyl (diallyl) oxy trineodecanonyl titanate (LICA 01) on mechanical properties of composites made from chloroprene rubber and zinc oxide is reported here. 1 coupling agent was selected for the treatment of the zinc oxide filler. The treatment resulted in the enhancement of mechanical properties of composites of the said rubber when compared with untreated zinc oxide composites separately. The properties under consideration were tensile strength modulus at 100 and 400 Youngs modulus hardness etc. Tensile strength improved by 171 modulus at 400 improved by 267 while Youngs modulus also improved by 103 at 60 volume fraction. The tianate coupling agent used here promoted adhesion between ZnO and the chloroprene rubber.
