Abstract
Mono- and bis-hydroperoxides have been isolated from the reaction between singlet oxygen and 2 6-dimethyl-2 6-octadiene and their H NMR spectral parameters are given. This information is used to examine both new and previously published H and 13C NMR data for the products of the reactions between singlet oxygen and both natural rubber and Gutta Percha. The relevance of these results to chain mobility in polyisoprenes is discussed.
